Sergiy joined Nazarbayev University as an Assistant Professor in the summer of 2014 and he was promoted to an Associate Professor in 2016. He was born and raised in Kazakhstan and educated in Ukraine (BS/MS in physics; Taras Shevchenko Kyiv National University, 1999), and the USA (PhD in physics; University of Arizona, 2006). Prior to coming to Nazarbayev University, he held postdoctoral appointments at the University of Arizona, Quantum Chemistry Research Institute (Kyoto, Japan), Vanderbilt University, and the University of Rochester. His research interests are concentrated in the field of computational quantum mechanics, that spans fundamental and applied work in quantum chemistry, electronic structure, few-body physics, atomic and molecular physics, quantum dynamics, and nanoscience. His research at Nazarbayev University has been funded via grants from the Ministry of Education and Science of Kazakhstan and via NU internal grant.
