Shyraq is a student club that had been established at Nazarbayev University in February 2016. The main purpose of the club is promotion of the Kazakh Language and Culture, creation of friendly environment between international professors and students during Kazakh language classes; as well as celebration of cultural events on campus. All members of the Nazarbayev University community are welcome to learn Kazakh with us. Please see the class schedule below:

Purpose: I am concerned about the condition and future of the Kazakh Language in the same sense that I care about the future lives of orphans, therefore I would like to help and contribute to raise the Kazakh Language’s reputation as much as I can, and it is not because that I am a Kazakh girl and have a so-called responsibility to speak in Kazakh and promote it to others.

Purpose: I have joined “Shyraq” out of sense of patriotism. And now, as one of the club members, I’m challenging myself to contribute to Shyraq’s life, so together we can enhance the Kazakh language level of students on campus, and eventually, every student would speak in mother tongue proudly.

Purpose: Everyone has a linguistic right, but respecting and knowing his own mother tongue is a duty of every person. My mother tongue is kazakh. It is very beautiful and rich language. I want to make contribution to the development of kazakh language and to introduce kazakh culture to foreigners.
