Nazarbayev University Degree Now Recognized in China

Nazarbayev University (NU) has achieved a significant milestone by receiving official accreditation from the Chinese Service Center for Scholarly Exchange (CSCSE), which operates under the Ministry of Education of China. This recognition ensures that NU’s degrees are now officially validated in China, opening doors for its graduates to pursue career opportunities in the country without facing obstacles.

The CSCSE is responsible for evaluating and accrediting foreign academic credentials to facilitate international educational exchange and enhance research collaboration. For NU, this means that Chinese students graduating from the university will have their diplomas recognized by Chinese employers, and they can apply for various government scholarships.

“If a university is verified by this center, it means that the diploma obtained from this university is recognized in China. As a result, graduates from this accredited university could get a job in China with the diploma, because the Ministry of Education in China officially verified this university” noted Lili Zhang, an instructor in the Department of Language, Linguistics and Literature at School of Sciences and Humanities.

This accreditation is expected to attract more international students from China and promote the university’s reputation globally. Additionally Andrey Filchenko, acting vice-dean for Academic Affairs at SSH, added,

“The implications are that now Chinese students will see study at NU as a legitimate undertaking, and most importantly - they can now apply for the Chinese government scholarships for such studies. This can and should be a positive factor in recruiting more international students from China.”

Currently, nine Chinese students have graduated from NU, and 25 more are currently enrolled. The new accreditation is expected to boost these numbers in the future as NU continues to build its standing as a top research university in the region.
