SSH Assistant Professor Andrey Semenov took part in inception of UNDP's Regional Initiative to Enhance Urban Resilience in Central Asia

Andrei Semenov (Assistant Professor, DSPIR SSH) took part in the inception meeting of UNDP and Government of Japan sponsored project "Enhancing Urban Resilience to Disaster Risk and Climate Change in Central Asia", which took place in Tashkent on December 12-13, 2024.

The meeting gives a start to a new regional project that aims at building climate resilience in Central Asian cities through cooperation, knowledge exchange, and implementation of best practices in selected urban areas. The two-days event featured key governmental officials (including Uzbekistan Minister of Ecology Aziz Abdukhakimov), as well as representatives of international organizations, experts, academics and practitioners working in the area of urban resilience and climate change. Participants shared their know-hows as well as concerns regarding the preparedness of Central Asian cities to climate-related disasters and discussed what can be done to enhance the resilience.
