Dr. Timur Sh. Atabaev received his Ph.D. in 2012 from Pusan National University (South Korea) under the supervision of Prof. Hyung Kook Kim and Prof. Yoon-Hwae Hwang. From 2012 to 2017, he worked as a postdoctoral fellow and research professor both at Pusan National University and Seoul National University. In 2017, he joined Nazarbayev University as an Assistant Professor of Chemistry and was promoted to Associate Professor in 2022.
His research focuses on the design of multifunctional materials and advanced nanostructures for biomedical, optical, energy, sensing, and photocatalytic applications. Dr. Atabaev is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS) and the Materials Research Society (MRS). He has received several international recognitions, including the Scopus Young Researcher of the Year Award (2018) and the Web of Science Leader of Science Award (2020). He also serves as an Academic Editor for the “Journal of Nanotechnology”, and as an Associate Editor for “Frontiers in Chemistry” journals.
