On March 28, 2025, a group of students from Nazarbayev University conducted an educational tour of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The event was organized by professors of the Department of Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies at Nazarbayev University, Meiramgul Kusainova and Zhazira Agabekova.
The main goals of this event were to familiarize students with the activities of the highest legislative body of the Republic of Kazakhstan—the lower house of Parliament, the Mazhilis; to motivate students in shaping their future professional careers; and to foster a sense of patriotism and respect for their homeland.
As part of the tour, students met with Members of Parliament Zhuldyz Dosbergenovna Suleimenova and Kairat Rakhimovich Balabiev. The MPs spoke to the students about the work of the Mazhilis, the procedures for discussing and approving draft laws, and the interaction between MPs and their constituents. A two-way dialogue was also held on the current state and future prospects of the education and science system, modern youth policy in the country, and career-building opportunities for young people. The MPs, in turn, gave high praise to the quality of education and research at Nazarbayev University within Kazakhstan's higher education system.
During the tour, students visited the Main Assembly Hall of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the committee meeting rooms of the Mazhilis, educational exhibits, and the Parliament's library. Library staff introduced the students to the library’s working schedule, its academic and fiction collections. The students also asked engaging questions about the reading preferences and literary interests of the MPs.
