4th International Conference on Econometrics and Business Analytics took place in Astana
The 4th International Conference on Econometrics and Business Analytics took place at Nazarbayev University (NU). It was organized by the Center for Econometrics and Business Analytics of Saint Petersburg State University in collaboration with the Department of Economics at NU. In 2023, the host was Tashkent State University of Economics, and in 2022, by the American University of Armenia and the Central Bank of Armenia.
The conference welcomed 58 economists from various countries, including the UAE, Russia, Australia, France, Germany, Spain, and the USA. Participants discussed a wide range of topics, including theoretical econometrics, statistics, issues in the banking sector, corporate lending, bankruptcy modeling for enterprises and banks, regional development, as well as refining the measurement of inflation and modeling environmental problems in a growing economy.
“The conference participants demonstrated a high level of qualification. I would particularly like to highlight the presentations made by PhD candidates – this is an important step in their integration into the academic community and supports the development of their research interests in economic science,” noted Andrey Tkachenko, Assistant Professor at the School of Sciences and Humanities at NU.
The event was held in-person and featured three plenary presentations from distinguished speakers: Christian Brownlees from Pompeu Fabra University (Spain), Peter Schmidt from Michigan State University (USA), and Julio Dávila from the Department of Economics at NU. Additionally, 18 parallel sessions were conducted, covering a variety of themes.
“For the Department of Economics at NU, this is the largest academic event. According to my information, this is also one of the most significant events for the School of Sciences and Humanities in recent years. I hope that similar events will become regular and lay the foundation for the establishment of an Economic Association in Kazakhstan and Central Asia, akin to the one already existing in Armenia,” added Andrey Tkachenko.
