Highlights from the 3rd Eurasian International Meeting on Advanced Nanomaterials
Department of Chemistry, SSH NU hosted the 3rd Eurasian International Meeting on Advanced Materials for Biomedical and Biosensing Applications and Advanced Biomedical Nanotechnologies from May 13 to May 15. Building upon the success of its previous editions, this year's event marked a significant milestone in advancing interdisciplinary research in the field of nanotechnology for biomedical applications.
Since its inception in 2021, this esteemed gathering has served as a premier platform for fostering collaboration and sharing cutting-edge advancements in nanotechnology and biomedical sciences. With over 60 participants in attendance, the event witnessed engaging discussions and presentations from more than 15 distinguished speakers over the course of three days.
Among the esteemed speakers were internationally renowned experts, including Luciano Galantini from Sapienza University, Italy; Mustafa Culha from Augusta University, USA; Mischa Zelzer from Nottingham University, UK; and Dr. Anhang Wang from the University of Macau, China. These eminent figures, alongside speakers from various universities, led insightful discussions on novel approaches for biomedical applications of nanotechnology.
The meeting covered a diverse range of topics, including nano-pharmaceutical platforms, biosensing technologies, targeting antimicrobial resistance and biofilms, and utilizing nanotechnology for the treatment of tumors. Through these discussions, attendees gained valuable insights into the latest developments and challenges in harnessing nanotechnology for biomedical purposes.
Mischa Zelzer, who was invited as a plenary speaker, shared his positive impressions of the event. Zelzer commended “Local and international speakers were excellent in both delivery and content”. He also highlighted the impressive research laboratory infrastructure available at Nazarbayev University, emphasizing its contribution to science. Furthermore, Zelzer particularly appreciated the emphasis on brainstorming potential collaborative projects, noting that the focus on actionable concepts set this conference apart from others.
Mustafa Culha, another distinguished participant, emphasized the significance of the meeting's content saying “The development of advanced materials for biomedical and biosensing applications has critical importance for the solution of varying challenges that humanity is facing today. The meeting content was nicely aligned with the current research directions and developments in the field.” His remarks highlight the meeting's success in addressing pressing issues and advancing research in the development of materials for biomedical applications, underscoring its significance in contributing to scientific progress and innovation.
