Last week (November 14-17), a delegation from Nazarbayev University’s School of Sciences and Humanities (SSH), led by Dean Gonzalo Hortelano, Vice Dean Andrey Filchenko, and Chief Administrative Officer Balzhan Bliskeldinova, visited Almaty as part of a business trip aimed at connecting with prospective students and strengthening alumni ties.
The highlight of the trip was the SSH Open House Day, where high school students and their families had the opportunity to meet faculty members, receive individual consultations, and ask questions about admission to SSH and Nazarbayev University. This interactive event provided valuable insights into the school’s academic programs, fostering a deeper understanding of the educational opportunities available at NU.
In addition to engaging with future applicants, the SSH delegation held an informal dinner with alumni currently based in Almaty. This special event offered alumni a chance to reconnect with one another, share memories of their time at NU, and discuss ideas for building stronger alumni networks with SSH. Dean Hortelano expressed his appreciation for the vibrant alumni community and emphasized the importance of their continued involvement with the school.
The delegation also visited several schools and universities in Almaty, presenting SSH’s academic offerings and exploring opportunities for future collaboration. These visits underscored the school’s commitment to fostering partnerships and broadening its reach within Kazakhstan’s academic and professional communities.
The visit reinforced SSH’s dedication to nurturing talent and building connections across the country, ensuring that its programs remain accessible and impactful for students and alumni alike. We thank everyone who have devoted their time to attend the events and hope for more opportunities to meet in the future!
