SSH welcomes the newest cohort of exchange students from America

Today, exchange students from America had an introductory orientation session, where an informative welcome was extended by the university and school administration.

Vice President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation, Kadisha Dairova, opened the event with an inspiring address, highlighting the university's commitment to fostering friendly and engaging community. Dean of the School of Sciences and Humanities, Gonzalo Hortelano, followed with an overview of the academic opportunities and resources available to the students.

Vice Dean for Academic Affairs, Andrey Filchenko, provided insights into the academic expectations and support structures in place:
"Today we are welcoming our third cohort of Middlebury students. We have prepared an excellent program for them that will include anything from Kazakh national music, history and culture of Kazakhstan, to the intricacies of representation of the Orient in the Soviet cinematography and literature with a lot emphasis on Russian as a foreign language".

Additionally, representatives from the Department of Student Services, Department of Internationalization, Health and Well-being Department, and Environmental and Occupational Safety Department were present to offer valuable information and answer any questions the students might have had.

The "Program for Foreign Students in Russian Language" is a semester-long initiative where exchange students immerse themselves in Russian language studies. This semester, Nazarbayev University is proud to host 7 students from across the United States, hailing from states such as New Jersey, Florida, Minnesota, California, and more.

This program is a collaborative effort between the School of Sciences and Humanities and Middlebury College. During their time here, the exchange students will delve into Russian language studies and explore fascinating topics like International Relations, Orientalism, and the History of Kazakh Music and Culture.
